We are looking forward to welcoming the Trelawnyd Male Voice Choir from North Wales
on a visit to Cornwall in October 2007. I am sure it will be a delight for us all.
Unfortunately, The Trelawnyd Choir are unable to join us this year. Hopefully we
may be able to rearrange the visit for a later date.
Welcome to the St Columba Celtic Male Voice Choir Website. Whether you wish to hear our music, to check our concert dates or even make a booking, everything you could want to know is right here and, if it isn’t, you can contact us and we will be happy to help.
The Choir, formed in 1970 by the late Ivan Kessell takes its name from the ancient town of St. Columb, there are still founder members singing with us. Carrie Mills was the accompanist from 1970 until March 2000 when she resigned after nearly 30 years service; she is greatly missed. Lilah Basset continued in the tradition of female accompanists until her retirement in 2006, she still attends some of our concerts and it is always great to see her. Our present accompanist is Margaret Calloway who we hope will be with us for a long time.
Previous Musical Directors were Mrs. Philippa Wallis 1981 – 1985 and the late Mr. Clifford Strongman 1986 – 1996 Mr. Derek Rule 1996 – 2002. Our current leader is Mr. Tony Tournoff who took charge in February 02.
The choir have supported many local churches and chapels plus local charities over the years; and has participated in the four festivals of Cornish Male Voice Choirs in the Royal Albert Hall.
In 2003 The choir went to Canada and received a very warm welcome. In May 2007 we are going to Southern Ireland for 5 days singing in Killarney and Wexford,
